Friday's Agenda

March 20, 2009
9:20 – 9:30 – Mrs. Del Balzo will go over our agenda and the word of the month. We will read a letter from Mrs. Del Balzo and fix mistakes!

9:30 – 10:15 – Guided Reading
Group 1 – We will continue our posters while Mrs. Del Balzo work on text feature quizzes with students individually.

Group 2 – We will complete a quiz on a leveled text by answering BCR questions. Be sure to use the question to help you write your answer. Highlighting key words is a great strategy.

Group 3 – We will practice our sight words and reread books from this week. We will take a picture walk of the story we will read for next week.

10:15 – 10:40 – Whole Group Reading
We will reread our scholastic news on Barack Obama and begin answering our questions. We highlighted important words yesterday so use the words to help you answer the questions. You may work on this with a partner.

10:40 – 11:10- Language:
We will go over our morning work and write down our homework for the evening! We will take our DOL quiz for the week and practice our spelling words.

11:10 – 11:50 - Writing
Students will begin selecting books for their final writing assessment. Students may begin their graphic organizers or finish publishing final pieces.

11:50 – 12:50 – Lunch/ Recess

12:50 – 1:00- Students will continue to work on final writing pieces or begin their final assessment. At 1:00 put book boxes away and line up at the door with home folders and pencil boxes. Go to Ms. Sheinin’s class for math.


PM Class 1:10 – 3:10

1:10 – 1:30 – Students will come in and go over their language packets. Students should hand these in when completed.

1:30 – 2:15 –Guided Reading – Each group is a 15 minute rotation.

All groups will complete a short word work activity putting words into ABC order.
Rotations: While students are not meeting with Mrs. Del Balzo they are completing language activities or reading/writing independently. Students should meet with you at the back table.

Group 1 1:30 – 1:45– We will finish creating our posters after we finish gathering information.

Group 2 –1:45 – 2:00 -We will finish our posters after we finish determining important information we want to include.

Group 3 – 2:00 – 2:15 - We will finish our posters and take our text feature quiz.

*While students are working on posters Mrs. Del Balzo will be giving text feature assessment individually.

2:15 – 2:35 – Whole Group Reading
We will review text features and what jobs they have. We will identify text features in a text.

2:35 – 3:15 – Writing
We will begin our final writing assessment. Use strong reasons, opinion statements, and vocabulary!
