Wednesday Blues

Wow was it dreary out there or what today! We still got a lot done but faces in class were sad to see rain instead of snow;-)

Reading AM- We read in our guided reading groups to start the day. Many groups are working on writing BCR responses to things they have read. This is a skill that comes with time so we must all be patient. In whole group we worked with a partner to find two text features and write what we learned. In writing we created a table of contents for our animal book and began illustrating our pages. We will work on Friday making an index and glossary! How exciting! Don't forget to study those spelling words for your test on Friday!

Reading PM - We also met in reading groups and students are working BCR responses! See a pattern here? In whole groups students worked independently to identify two text features and share what they learned. These are common questions on M-class assessments so I want them to be prepared on HOW to answer questions completely. In writing I modeled how to write a paragraph and students began their writing if they had finshed their organizers. I met with a small group that had not finished their organizers to move them along. We should all be writing by Friday!

I will be out of the building tomorrow due to a little person at my home. Yes my son Austin needs mommy to take him to get shots. If you have any questions or concerns about what happens in class while I am away please let me know. Substitutes do not always leave notes about how the day went so if there was an issue I may not here about it.

Hugs,
Mrs. Del Balzo
