Fact : Today is Pearl Harbor Day.
I hope you are all having a relaxing and fun weekend. I am just getting ready for the week and wanted to let you know what our objectives are going to be for this week.
Reading AM- In reading we will be reviewing text features and sharing what we learn by using them. This is complex because students often want to tell the job of the text feature but on assessments the answers need to be geared toward what we are learning by using the text feature. In writing we will be working on our animal research books. We started last week by putting our notes into sentences. We will continue that this week and add a table of contents, cover, and glossary to our books. This ties in nicely with our work with text features. We will continue with long a in spelling and grammar practice will focus on conjunctions. We got very busy last week so wee need to review this again.
Reading PM- In reading we will be reviewing text features and sharing what we learn by using them. This is complex because students often want to tell the job of the text feature but on assessments the answers need to be geared toward what we are learning by using the text feature. Towards the end of the week we will switch gears to poetry and begin working on the author's message in a poem. This will take a lot of work with vocabulary so get ready! In writing we will try to complete our animal research and begin writing our paragraphs. I have been modeling how to write a well constructed paragraph with students so I am hoping for an easy transition into this type of writing. We will again be working on the short a sound in spelling. Look for your new homework sheet in student journals on Monday evening!
I miss you all and look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning bright and early. Bundle up it's cold out there!
Hugs,
Mrs. Del Balzo
