Sorry for not blogging last night! We did not have power in our development so I wasn't able to get on-line. That's what I get for living in the country:-)
Reading AM- Today we continued our lessons on cause and effect. Today students practiced using a graphic organizer to complete a brief constructed response question. During guided reading one group did sequencing of the life cycle of a pumpkin seed, while another group read about getting a dinosaur as a pet! The last group is reading about the wind and the sun having an argument about who is stronger! During reading I modeled for students how to take notes and put them into sentences for our research writing. We then met in small groups so students could work with their partner and talk about their sentences before writing! We will be making a book out of our information before break! After recess we went over our grammar lesson about how to correct sentences and we practiced our spelling words.
Reading PM- Today was an independent work day for students. I wrote them each a letter about what their assignment was and they worked during our reading time on completing their task. While students were working I was checking in on their reading levels by completing some progress monitoring that is due to our administration. We do this to see how students are progressing toward the next reading benchmark! During writing I modeled how to take notes and write a complete paragraph with a topic sentences and supporting details. We also had our grammar lesson on correcting sentences and student sequenced events! Then we were done for the day!
Sorry no reading comprehension homework this evening! I thought students had worked hard enough during the day! Have a great evening and don't forget to sign those reading logs!
Hugs,
Mrs. Del Balzo
