Wednesday

Sorry for not getting on yesterday the server was down at school and then I couldn't get on at home either! I love technology:-)

We have been having a great week and really winding down the first quarter. Can you believe we will be meeting in a couple of weeks for conferences? Where did the time go? Please see below all the things we are working on this week.

Reading- We are beginning to look a poems and the author's big idea. Today we discussed imagery and how the author uses sensory words to help us create a picture in our mind. Ask your students about the poems they are quite humorous(Mean Maxine and You Need to have an Iron Rear) are two we have used this week. In reading groups students are continuing to work on vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension (written and oral)

Writing - We are finishing up our writing assessment this week. Students have been writing and using all of the skills we learned this quarter ( writing in first person, using complete sentences, trying our best on spelling, and using lots of details). This will be our last writing piece for the quarter.

Spelling - Today we read the poem "The Toad and the Goat" and found long 0 words. You can practice finding long o words too. Set out the family newspaper and give your child a highlighter or crayon. Ask them to find long o words for you!

Halloween Party:
Thanks for all of the donations! We will have the party on Friday October 31st. The parade will begin about 2:15pm. We hope to see many of you there. Please send your child's costume in their backpack.

Hugs,
Mrs. Del Balzo
