New Week!

Hello All! I hope you guys are enjoying this beautiful weather, but make sure to put on some warm clothes, it's cold out there! This time of the year it is very important for students to dress in layers when they come to school, you never know when the heat is going to kick on full blast. Please make sure you dress appropriately for the weather. This week is our first full week in a while so we are going to busy as usual. I will be out of the building Wednesday afternoon for a training.

Goals for the week!

Reading -
We will continue to work on determining the main idea in a short text. I am going to work with students on reading a short paragraph and having them determine the main idea from a multiple choice question. This serves the purpose of determining main idea and also gives us some much needed test practice in how to eliminate answers on a multiple choice test. I have found some resources off of the internet to use and we will also be using some non-fiction big books from our library. Towards the end of the week we will begin working on fact and opinion. Students are going to brainstorm fact and opinions on Thursday and on Friday will give them some facts and opinions to sort with a partner. Our focus is looking at the language that is used I will give examples as the week goes on.

Writing - As the quarter comes to a close we are going to be practicing for our writing assessment. On Monday, I will model how to use a web to brainstorm ideas. Tuesday I will sort those ideas by color for my draft that I will writing. Wednesday we will revise and edit in order to publish by Thursday. Friday we will start the process all over. Next week students will have to do the process by themselves for the assessment.

Spelling- We continue to work on long i this week! Practice those spelling words !

Halloween Party:
I will be sending a notice home tomorrow. If you could please send in 2.00 to help me with the cost of the Halloween party I would really appreciate it.
