I hope everyone has been having a great week as we get ready to wind down for Friday. Today was a beautiful day not just for the weather but for the great work students did all day.
Reading - We identified labels as a text feature and created self portraits with labels on them so people could identify our different parts. Tomorrow students will try a culminating activity for the three text features we learned for the week, table of contents, captions, and labels. Students should be able identify a text feature and explain what they learn by using the text feature.
Writing- We became teachers today when students helped me correct some sample papers on the overhead projector. We are learning how to edit and students identified incorrect capital letters and spelling in two sample papers. We also learned the conventions song that goes to the tune of the hokey pokey!
You put some periods in
You take some spelling out
You put your capitals in and shake it all about
You make your paper better when you edit it just right
That's what it's all about!
Today in spelling students found long e words in a poem we read called "Leaf Blankets" Tomorrow we will take our poem and draw a picture of what the author shared and write our long e words around our paper!
Please remember to bring in your homework each day! Purple folder, spelling journal, and zip lock are all needed everyday! Please let me know if you ever have any questions!
Love,
Mrs. Del Balzo
