Welcome Back!

It was great to see all students here ready to learn today after a nice rest. We had a busy day as always and we are continuing to adjust ESOL and special education schedules to meet the needs of students, so please bear with us if your students share a change in their schedule.

Reading- Today we read captions and shared what we learned by reading them. Students are working on identifying the text feature and sharing what they learn. Today we used a book about frogs, students were amazed by the pictures and captions that shared new information with them.

Writing- Students are continuing to edit and fix up their writing. By the end of the week students will have a new writing peice published and ready for grading. Today we discussed editing and some students met with a partner to help them fix up any spelling or grammatical errors in the writing. If your child was still drafting they were instructed to keep writing and will edit tomorrow.

Spelling- During spelling time today we reviewed the long e spelling patterns and brainstormed more words. Our spelling patterns are ( EE, EA, E, and ECE). We are working on sorting words tonight for homework. Students should sort their words by the spelling pattern they have, for example:

she greet seat these
he meet beat
we sweet cheat

If you ever get lost on spelling homework please just practice your words in some way like spelling them two times or doing rainbow words with crayons. Let me know what you don't understand.

I hope you all have a great night, and I'll see you tomorrow!
Love, Mrs. Del Balzo
