Hi everyone. I hope we all had a good day. Today we continued to work on character traits and looking for evidence in the text. I am also still in the midst of reading testing so if your child did not say anything about being tested today I am still working on it. It averages about 40 minutes per student to get through all of the sub tests and now writing pieces students have to do, so we will keep on it until it is finished:-)
Tomorrow we will brainstorm words for our first spelling exploration which will be long a. We will read a poem with long a words in it for students to find and from there brainstorm other words. We will keep collecting words throughout the next two weeks! On Monday students will be bringing home a spelling journal they will do their homework in each night. I will ask that it come back to school each day so I can check that they are doing their work and not having any trouble. Each student will have their own individual list as we are all at different phases of spelling knowledge. Students will have between 5-15 words of varying difficulty. They will study and work with these words for two full weeks and then be tested on Sept. 26. I know this sounds like a long time away but believe me the days fly by.
I am constantly giving away bull dog bones for great behavior and meeting expectations. Please keep up the good work. Also, remember to bring your reading logs and zip-lock bags back everyday. I do check them for parent signatures. See you all tomorrow.
