Wed. Agenda

April 1, 2009
9:20 – 9:30 – Mrs. Del Balzo will go over our agenda and the word of the month. We will read a letter from Mrs. Del Balzo and fix mistakes!

9:30 – 10:15 – Guided Reading
Group 1 – We will put our new word wall words in ABC order and go over a vocabulary term for our book by completing a vocabulary sheet. We will read using whisper phones to help our fluency.
Group 2 – We will put our word wall words in ABC order and review what a mudskipper is from yesterday. We will also review where Malaysia is on the map and read our book to improve our fluency.
Group 3 – We will put our words in abc order and review what a present is. We will practice using the picture clue while reading to help us figure out words.

10:15 – 10:40 – Whole Group Reading
We will discuss antonyms and how they are words that are opposites.

10:40 – 11:10- Language/Writing
We will make our popcorn and conduct our taste test. As a class we will take notes using our senses. Tomorrow we will create our organizer.

11:10- 12:50 – Music/Lunch/ Recess

12:50 – 1:10- Students will go over their morning work sentences in small groups and read independently.










PM Class 1:10 – 3:10

1:10 – 1:30 – Students will come in and go over their language packets and write down their homework in their planners.

1:30 – 2:15 –Guided Reading – Each group is a 15 minute rotation.
All students will review new word wall words!
Rotations: While students are not meeting with Mrs. Del Balzo they are completing language activities or reading/writing independently.

Group 1 1:30 – 1:45– We will review what Tomie DePola might have had to learn before he wrote the book. We will define pre-historic using a vocabulary web. We will continue to read for fluency and orally discuss answers to our BCR question.
Group 2 –1:45 – 2:00 - We will review where the Amazon rain forest is. We will orally rehearse our responses for our BCR.
Group 3 – 2:00 – 2:15 - We will review what a tall tale is and reread our text to practice fluency. We will orally rehearse the BCR response for this week.



2:15 – 2:40 – Whole Group Reading
We will review synonyms and antonyms during whole group reading. We will focus on analogies and how can use our knowledge of synonyms and antonyms to find the correct answer.

2:40 – 3:15 – Writing
We will complete assignments and begin our taste test writing. We will take notes using our senses and tomorrow we will complete our organizers.
