Wednesday's Agenda

February 25, 2009

9:20 – 9:30 – Ms. Curtis will go over our agenda and the word of the month. We will read a letter from Mrs. Del Balzo and fix mistakes!

9:30 – 10:15 – Guided Reading
Group 1 – We will create word cards for our word wall words. Then we will reread our texts and discuss what lesson the hare learned in the story.

Group 2 – We will create word cards for our word wall words. Then we will reread our texts and talk about how the jackals tricked the lion. We will develop a group response.

Group 3 – We will fill in sentences with the correct word wall word. We will put the events of the story in order in our reading journals.

10:15 – 10:40 – Whole Group Reading
We review a comic of Dennis the Menace and think about what we see and then talk about what we think is happening. At the end of the lesson we will read the caption to the comic.

10:40 – 11:10- Writing
We continue our drafts of letters to Ms. Dietz. Be sure to start every sentence with a capital letter and end with punctuation.

11:10 -12:50 – Music/Lunch/Recess


12:50 – 1:10- Students will read independently while Mrs. Del Balzo works in small groups to go over language sentences. We will then switch for math.







PM Class 1:10 – 3:10

1:10 – 1:30 – Students will come in and go over their language packets. Students should hand these in when completed.

1:30 – 2:15 –Guided Reading

Group 1and 3 – We will brainstorm facts that we learned and determine the main idea of the book. We will write a summary tomorrow.

Group 2 – We will review chapters 1-5. We will begin chapter 5 and discuss how the setting is affecting the characters. We will make word cards for our word wall words.


2:15- 2:40 Whole Group Reading
Review a Dennis the Menace comic and think about what happening is based on our background knowledge. We will share what we think is happening in the comic! Tomorrow we will review a poem and discuss what we think is happening (the author’s message)!

2:40 – 3:10- Writing
We will continue with the hamburger model and try to enhance our language by using stronger words. We will continue to edit our letters with a partner. Remember help your partner by being a good peer editor!
