9:20 – 9:30 – Ms. Curtis will go over our agenda and the word of the month. We will read a letter from Mrs. Del Balzo and fix mistakes!
9:30 – 10:15 – Guided Reading
Group 1 – Students will finish their handwriting sheet for their word wall words. They will locate two text features and share what they learned. Students will then read a chapter and write down a fact they learned.
Group 2 – Students will finish their handwriting sheet for their word wall words. Students will reread, The Clever Penguin and discuss what the problem and solution is in the story. Students will begin writing when they are ready.
Group 3 – Student will practice her words by writing on a white board. Student will reread her book and discuss the questions, “What is the problem in the story? How is it solved?”
10:15 – 10:40 – Whole Group Reading
Students will listen to a passage while Mrs. Del Balzo read. As she is reading students will write down facts they learned around their wheel. After reading, students will work in pairs to determine the main idea of the passage to complete their organizer. On Friday we will work to write a summary using our organizer.
10:40 – 11:10- Writing
We will finish our letters FINALLY! We will us the strategy “Share the Pen” to write our letter to Mrs. Deitz about having more recess. We will then copy our letters and put them in our writing folders.
11:10 -12:50 – P.E./Lunch/Recess
12:50 – 1:10- Students will read independently while Mrs. Del Balzo works in small groups to go over language sentences. We will then switch for math.
PM Class 1:10 – 3:10
1:10 – 1:30 – Students will come in and go over their language packets. Students should hand these in when completed.
1:30 – 2:15 –Guided Reading
Group 1 – We will begin our two BCRs on Ralph’s family and how they felt about him going out to find the aspirin and how Ralph felt when he was riding the motorcycle. This will be a final quiz of the book.
Group 2 – We will start our questions on how Gregory’s feelings changed throughout the beginning, middle, and end of the story.

2:15- 2:40 Whole Group Reading
Students will take their graphic organizers from yesterday to create a complete paragraph summary of the weather article they read. Go TEAM! This means students will have determined the main idea and mastered the skill of summarizing!
2:40 – 3:10- Writing
We will continue with the hamburger model and try to enhance our language by using stronger words. Students will begin writing their first draft of their letter by using their organizer! Remember spelling is important but try on your own first!
