Happy New Year to all! I am so glad to be back and getting students ready for our next half of the school year. I can't believe that in just two weeks I will be doing report cards again. We have been very busy since we returned so let me get you caught up on our activities.

Reading AM- This week we are reading for information. Students listened to a non-fiction article about penguins today and they are going to take their information and put it into sentences tomorrow. I can't wait to see how we turn notes into sentences how exciting. For spelling we are working on the short i sound for the next two weeks. Please make sure to do homework each night. For guided reading we are working on instructional levels and practicing writing BCRs to get ready for the next round of M-class testing coming up next week.

Reading PM- This week we are finishing up our animal reports finally. Students are putting on their finishing touches and although they won't go home I will be making copies for students to show you! They are very proud of their paragraphs. In reading we are practicing BCR writing for the next round of m-class testing starting next week. For guided reading we are beginning literature circles. Some students may have brought home an assignment sheet or job for the week. They can work on this anytime and need to have it completed by Friday. This is something new so if they have trouble please let me know. We are working on chapters 1-4 this week so keep reading! In the other group we are working reading plays and cause and effect relationships. Keep reading and getting that homework done!

Hugs,
Mrs. D.
