Busy week already! This week we are really cruising with our comprehension. Testing if finally over for us and now we can just focus on reading groups and increasing our fluency, words per minute and written responses to reading.

This week:

Reading - We will be identifying problem and solution in stories. Students will be asked to state the problem and details to support their understanding of the problem. They will also be asked to state the solution and how the characters got to the solution of the story. For example we read Dr. DeSoto this week for whole group. We created a response together so students would know what a strong written response would include.

The problem was the fox wanted to eat the doctor and his wife. I know because in the story it said the foxes mouth quivered when the mouse was working on his tooth. The fox also talked in his head about eating the mice.

The solution was the mice glued the fox's mouth shut. They told him it was a new product that would make him never have bad teeth again. The fox believed them and so the mice tricked the fox.

In writing we are continuing write in complete sentences and work on adding details to our writing.

We will be having a spelling test on Friday. All students have the same words for two weeks!

Thank you for all of your help with homework, I really appreciate it.

Have a great rest of your week!
Love, Mrs. D
