Tuesday's Agenda

Welcome back from a lovely and rainy weekend! I hope everyone is back on track for doing homework and reading each night! Tonight everyone has spelling and reading homework so please sign those logs and check those backpacks for any important information that may be coming home from the office!

Happy Cinco De Mayo
9:20 – 9:30 – Mrs. Del Balzo will go over our agenda and the word of the month. We will read a letter from Mrs. Del Balzo and fix mistakes!

9:30 – 10:15 – Guided Reading
All groups will complete a fill in the blank sheet for word wall words.
Group 1 – We will put our new word wall words in our quick words and review our story. An Ashanti tale from Africa, we will discuss the vocabulary word messenger. We will also discuss the question, “Is the monkey the laziest animal in the story?”
Group 2 – We will put our new words wall words in our quick word, and review our story called, “License Plates.” We will find some more letters on our poster of different license plates and decide whether the title is a good one for the story.
Group 3 – We put our new word wall words in our quick word. Then we reread our story on homes.

10:15 – 11:10 – Whole Group Reading and Writing
We will review our folktale and discuss the elements of a story. In small groups we will adapt the story with new characters, setting, and events. We will continue to have a similar problem and solution. We will also put our finished speeches on note cards so we can start practicing for folktale day!

11:10 – 12:50 – ART / Lunch / Recess

12:50 – 1:10 – We will copy our homework for the evening and go over our language sentences from the morning.














PM Class 1:10 – 3:10

1:10 – 1:30 – We will go over language sentences and write down our homework for the evening.

1:30 – 2:15 Guided Reading
Group 1 1:35 – 1:50– We will complete review our word wall words and read the next two chapters in our text. We will then go over our responses from the day before.
Group 2 –1:15 – 2:05 - We will review our word wall words and read the second and third chapters in our story. We will go over our responses from the day before.
Group 3 – 2:05 – 2:20 - We will review our word wall words and read the next two chapters in our story. We will then go over our responses from yesterday.
* We will all identify a character trait for Ramona after reading chapters one and two.

2:20 – 3:15 – Whole Group Reading and Writing
We will review our folktale and discuss the elements of a story. In small groups we will adapt the elements of a folktale while another group continues to work on writing their folktale speeches. If students finish they will practice saying their speeches out loud and creating a portrait of what their character looks like in order to design a constume.
