9:20 – 9:30 – Ms. Curtis will go over our agenda and the word of the month. We will read a letter from Mrs. Del Balzo and fix mistakes!
9:30 – 10:15 – Guided Reading
Group 1 – We will introduce our new word wall words for the next two weeks. We will finish our responses from last week and take a picture walk of our new text. Be sure to think about what it would be like to see a talking cat!
Group 2 – We will introduce our new word wall words for the next two weeks. We will take a picture walk of our new book, New Glasses for Max. We will think how we would feel if we had to get glasses.
Group 3 – We will introduce our new sight words and take a picture walk of our new book. We will discuss what a poem is and how it is different from a story. We will think about how we play with different toys.
10:15 – 10:40 – Whole Group Reading
We will listen to a folktale and discuss all of the elements of a folktale. After reading we will chart all of the different elements.
10:40 – 10:55- Writing
We finish publishing our letters and begin our new writing piece about a problem we see out in the world. Mrs. Del Balzo will share some different pictures that have problems in them. We will pick one to write about.
10:55 – 11:35 – Music
11:35 – 11:50 - We will correct our morning work and go over spelling homework and journals.
11:50 – 12:50 - Lunch/Recess
12:50 – 1:10- Students will read independently while Mrs. Del Balzo works in small groups to go over language sentences. We will then switch for math.
PM Class 1:10 – 3:10
1:10 – 1:30 – Students will come in and go over their language packets. Students should hand these in when completed.
1:30 – 2:15 –Guided Reading
Group 1and 3 – We will share our thoughts after the first reading and do a second reading. We will discuss vocabulary after the second reading.
Group 2 – We will review chapters 1-8. We will start chapter 9 and discuss what the problem is in the story and how we think it will be solved.
2:15- 2:40 Whole Group Reading
We will finish our poem activity. We will listen to a folktale and chart the elements we hear as a whole group. Tomorrow we will chart with a partner.
2:40 – 3:10- Writing
We will finish publishing and being a new writing piece about problems of the world. We will continue to use the hamburger model for structuring our writing.
