Wednesday Relief!

Wow, I feel like I have talked a lot the past few days. Mrs. Sheinin and I were so happy to have time to sit and talk with parents during conferences this week. I am looking forward to the rest of the year and am excited about the work we have ahead. That being said here is what we have been up to this week.

Monday - Students reviewed their predictions for "The Stranger" and I read the story aloud. After reading we reflected to see if our predictions were correct. We learned that if we really did a strong picture walk our predictions were REASONABLE even if they were not correct. In writing we brainstormed places we have visited and put them into categories. Now students are getting ready to select a place to write about and inform their audience about it.

Tuesday - I only met with the AM class this day since we had a 1/2 day. In reading we read as story called Tom and completed a story map. Next we are going to use the story map to answer this question, "What was the problem in the story and how was it solved?" Since I didn't see students in the AM today we will finish this tomorrow. In writing I modeled how to select a place and inform people about it. I selected Subway since it is my favorite place to get lunch. Ask your kids what they learned from my modeling. I hope they remember!

Wednesday - Today I met with the PM class since we missed yesterday. We completed the story map and tomorrow we will complete an answer to the written response question. I stated up top. We also finished sorting our places into categories and did a spelling lesson on sorting since it is their homework for tonight. They are sort words by spelling pattern (ew, ui, u-e, and ue).

Please remember to do all of your homework each night friends. I want to check to make sure you are reading and practicing spelling! I can't wait to see you tomorrow!

Love,
Mrs. Del Balzo
